A Leeds park has become the first public park in the UK to host a dementia-friendly garden.
The garden was opened at Rothwell’s Springhead Park in Leeds today, 17 May.
The space includes special seating, raised planting areas, an aviary and designated dementia friendly parking spaces.
The team behind the project hope the garden will help sufferers avoid the withdrawal and isolation that can be associated with the symptoms of dementia.
The opening has coincided with Dementia Awareness Week, which started on Sunday, 14 May.
