Sixty arrests in Kirklees domestic abuse crackdown

Sixty people have been arrested during a seven-day police operation targeting domestic abuse suspects across Kirklees and beyond.

Sixty people have been arrested during a major crackdown on domestic abuse in Kirklees. Officers from safeguarding, CID, neighbourhood policing and the Catch and Control Team carried out a seven-day operation at the end of July. Arrests were made across Kirklees, elsewhere in West Yorkshire and as far away as York and Scarborough. Suspects were detained over a range of alleged offences, including serious assaults and sexual offences. Police say follow-up enquiries are continuing, with some suspects charged and others released on bail or made subject to protective orders.
