Four drivers from Bradford and Leeds have been sentenced after using the details of a man who died in 2001 to try to escape motoring prosecutions.

Four drivers have been sentenced after using the identity of a man who died in 2001 to try to avoid prosecution for motoring offences.

Sarah Hanif, Shahad Aljammoor and Naheed Razaq, from Bradford, and Ajmal Khan, from Leeds, provided the dead man's details as the driver following five separate offences between 2020 and 2024.

The offences included speeding and a vehicle activating a red-light camera.

Police uncovered the deception after enquiries into the details provided established the man had died years earlier.

All four were convicted of perverting the course of justice at Bradford Crown Court and received suspended prison sentences.

Police have warned that attempts to provide false information to evade motoring prosecutions will be investigated.
