A teenage boy has been left seriously injured following an attack in Levenshulme.
Shortly before 6pm on Friday 5 August 2016, police were called to reports of an assault in the Chapel Street Park area.
On attendance officers discovered a 16-year-old boy with serious injuries to his head.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Detective Inspector Brian Morley from GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “This investigation is in its early stages and we are currently trying to piece together exactly what happened and the possible motive behind this."
“A 16-year-old boy has been badly injured with what we believe could be a hammer, but we are still following a number of lines of enquiry."
“This was a brutal attack and I’m appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward if they have any information they believe could be linked to this."
