A manager of Megna Indian Restaurant, Church Hill in Selby has been prosecuted for non-compliance with food safety regulations, including failing to ensure that food was not exposed to a risk of cross-contamination.
Shajad Miah, 45 of Runswick Street, Bradford appeared at York Magistrates Court charged with breaching the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013.
Shajad Miah pleaded guilty to the offences.
In court Mr Miah stated that the restaurant has now taken steps to address the issues of food safety and hygiene.
He was fined a total of £2,393.00 and warned that the Council will continue to monitor the situation and should there be any further issues of non-compliance, further action will be taken.
The Council communications team said that the authority takes food safety and hygiene very seriously and it is important that food establishments within the district meet these regulations.
Selby District Council inspected 299 food premises during 2015/16, of which 166 were awarded a top rating of five stars.
