Detectives have renewed their appeal to the community for any information on the 20th anniversary of the death of Joe McCafferty.
On 3 May 1997, petrol was poured through the letterbox of a house on Haywood Avenue in Huddersfield and set alight.
Joe, who was only seven at the time and was staying with his Aunt and cousins whilst his mum was working away, was seriously injured and later died in hospital.
This week marks the 20th anniversary of Joe's death and West Yorkshire Police and issuing a plea to the community for any information to be passed to the police to assist with their on-going enquiry into his death.
A police spokesperson said: “This was an abhorrent crime and a truly tragic case which claimed the life of Joe but could have easily taken the lives of three other children.”
They say they are “determined to get justice for Joe and his family.”
