The vacant seat on the Bradford Council up for grabs in the Queensbury by-election has been reclaimed by the Conservatives.
Andrew Senior successfully saw off four other candidates, receiving more than half of the overall votes cast.
The by-election was triggered when Conservative councillor Lisa Carmody resigned earlier in the year, citing health and family reasons.
Councillor Senior won 2,175 votes, taking a majority of 1,443 over his nearest rival, the Independent candidate Jason Smith, who received 732 of the votes.
Labour’s candidate Mobeen Hussain came third with 697 votes, with Eithne Dodwell of the Green Party coming fourth and Mary Whitrick of the Liberal Democrats in fifth.
The turnout for the Queensbury by-election was 31.8 per cent.
