Police are appealing for information after an incident in Ossett on Sunday 2 April, when an elderly lady was the victim of a theft.
It happened around 10.05am, when the vulnerable 81-year-old woman was walking to church. Whilst walking between Park Square and Fairfield Mount she was approached from behind by an unknown male who snatched her handbag before running off.
The suspect is described as a white male, of slim build and short hair.
Constable Alex Booth of Wakefield District Police said: "This has been a very frightening incident for the victim who has been left very shaken after what happened. If anyone was in the area on Sunday morning and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously, or who may have seen anyone matching the suspect’s description running from the scene I would urge them to come forward. Our enquiries are on-going."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101.
