Police in Huddersfield are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault in Liversedge.
The incident happened about midnight on Wednesday, March 16, when a 36-year-old man was attacked at an address in Second Avenue. He received serious injuries and was treated at hospital and later discharged.
It is thought the victim had remained at the property overnight but then left the next day when he flagged down a passing motorist who took him to Dewsbury Hospital.
Officers want to speak to any witnesses to the assault but are also keen to trace the person who took the victim to hospital.
Detective Constable Shaun Topham, of Huddersfield CID, said: "This was a vicious assault and I am appealing directly to anyone with information about this to come forward."
