Man Jailed After Deliberately Driving Car at People Outside Bradford Casino

A 49-year-old man has been jailed for nearly four years after deliberately driving a car onto a pavement towards staff and customers outside a casino in Bradford.

Nadeem Khan, 49, of no fixed abode, was driving a Nissan Juke on 11 May when he drove onto the pavement outside the casino on Bolton Road.

West Yorkshire Police said Khan drove at speed onto the pavement, hitting bollards while attempting to seriously harm staff and customers.

Police said the incident was carried out in retaliation after Khan had been banned from the casino.

Khan admitted four counts of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of dangerous driving.

At Bradford Crown Court on Monday 24 August, he was sentenced to three years and 11 months in prison.

He was also disqualified from driving for four years and 11 months.

Detective Constable Samuel Wilkinson, of Bradford CID, said Khan's actions were "extremely dangerous and reckless" and could have had fatal consequences.

He added that the incident had had a significant impact on the victims and welcomed the prison sentence and driving ban imposed by the court.
