A man has been charged with murder following a house fire in Hounslow, West London, which left a woman dead and eight other people requiring hospital treatment.
Pawel Kulpa, 34, has been charged with one count of murder, eight counts of attempted murder and one count of arson with intent to endanger life.
Emergency services were called to a property on Berkeley Avenue, Hounslow, at around 1.14am on Wednesday 19 August.
A woman who was taken to hospital following the fire later died.
The Metropolitan Police has named her as 50-year-old Anna Kowalska. Her family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
Another woman, aged 40, remained in hospital in a life-threatening condition at the time of the update.
Seven other people – six men and one woman – who were taken to hospital have since been discharged after receiving treatment for minor injuries.
A murder investigation was launched following the fire, and the Crown Prosecution Service subsequently authorised charges against Kulpa.
Lisa Ramsarran, Chief Crown Prosecutor for London North, said prosecutors had worked with the Metropolitan Police and determined there was sufficient evidence to bring criminal proceedings.
Kulpa was due to appear before Willesden Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 25 August.
Criminal proceedings are active and the charges are allegations until proven in court.
