Three Bradford Shops Closed Over Illegal Goods and Anti-Social Behaviour

Three premises near Great Horton Road in Bradford have been ordered to close following concerns over anti-social behaviour and the sale of illegal and counterfeit products.

Three premises in Bradford have been handed closure orders following joint action by Bradford Council, West Yorkshire Police and Trading Standards.

The action relates to shops and storerooms around Great Horton Road and Laisteridge Lane, where authorities identified issues including anti-social behaviour and the sale of nitrous oxide and illegal or counterfeit alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco.

Bradford Council initially served a Closure Notice on Thursday 20 August, closing the properties for 24 hours pending court proceedings.

Following hearings at Kirklees Magistrates' Court, a closure order has now been granted for Great Horton Road Shop at 97 Great Horton Road, running until 27 November.

JIMMYS OFF LICENSE at Under Croft, 2 Laisteridge Lane, and premises at 99 Great Horton Road have both been given full three-month Closure Orders dating from Friday 21 August.

Sergeant Ceri Lloyd, of Bradford District Neighbourhood Support Team, said authorities had identified several issues at the premises, including the illegal sale and use of nitrous oxide, drug use and the sale of illegal and counterfeit alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco.

Councillor Ian Walker, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Communities, said businesses selling illegal and counterfeit products and attracting anti-social behaviour could expect the council to take the strongest action available.

Police say the closures followed close work between neighbourhood officers, anti-social behaviour and licensing teams, Bradford Council and other partners.
