There are many stories of selfless bravery being shared after the terror attack in Manchester on Monday night, 22 May, and one story in particular has stood out for many.
Chris Parker, a homeless man, ran towards the scene of the blast to assist those in need. He told the Press Association that he held a woman in her 60s as she died in his arms.
A crowd-funding campaign has since raised over £26,000 for Mr Parker.
Following the news from the Prime Minister that the UK terror threat level was heightened from SEVERE to CRITICAL last night, 23 May, West Yorkshire Police’s Assistant Chief Constable Angela Williams said in a statement:
“This means an attack in the UK is expected imminently. This could happen anywhere in the UK and, at this time, there is no specific information about West Yorkshire.
“The raising of the threat also means that we can, if required, call on military assistance to help us keep the communities of West Yorkshire safe. People may be expecting soldiers to be patrolling the streets today. This will not be the immediate case. The option of calling on military support is one I am constantly considering.”
