A man from Newton Heath has been ordered to pay a fine by magistrates, after a Manchester City Council CCTV camera caught him dumping eight bags of rubbish on a street near his home.
Zozek Karim Omer was filmed removing the waste from his car and leaving it in the road on Dymchurch Street, Newton Heath, during the evening of 20 January.
The vehicle’s registration number was clearly captured on camera and the case was referred to Manchester City Council’s Environmental Crimes Team, for investigation.
Omer was identified as the vehicle’s driver and interviewed under caution. He claimed that the rubbish had come from a vacant plot of land he had been clearing up on a regular basis, but admitted to dumping the waste onto Dymchurch Street instead of disposing of it responsibly and was ordered to pay £595 in fines and costs.
