A multi-million pound drug empire in Manchester has been dismantled following a covert surveillance operation codenamed Operation Volcano.
Six men, including the network’s kingpin, were sentenced yesterday, 22 May, at Minshull Street Crown Court for their part in a sophisticated plot to flood the streets of Greater Manchester with Class A drugs.
Following information, police raided a property in April 2016 and discovered a concealed door hidden by a large fridge freezer.
The door gave access to a small staircase which lead to a secret cellar where officers uncovered over 13 kilograms of heroin and cocaine, with an estimated street value of over £4.2m.
Searches of another address in Fallowfield unearthed a further haul of drugs with an estimated street value of over £2.8 million.
The six men were handed sentences ranging from 12 months to 10 years.
