Man dies following collision at Manchester city centre bus station

A man has died following a collision in Manchester city centre.

Shortly before 5.00pm on Monday 9 July 2018, a blue Van Hool Astromega Coach was parked at Shudehill Interchange as passengers boarded the vehicle.

A short time later, a pedestrian collided with the stationary coach.

The pedestrian, a 70-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he later died.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Police Constable Dermot Murray, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has sadly died following this tragic incident and our thoughts remain with his family at this awful time.

“We have launched an investigation and are working to establish the exact circumstances that led to the man colliding with the coach.

“It happened at a busy time of day and passengers were boarding the coach prior to this incident. I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the man entering the bus station or witnessed this incident to please get in touch.”
