A man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was shot in Harpurhey last night.
At around 11.20pm on Sunday 7 August 2016, police received several reports of a shooting at a takeaway on Rochdale Road, Harpurhey.
Officers attended and found that a 27-year-old man had suffered a number of gunshot wounds, after a firearm is believed to have been fired from outside the shop into the premises.
The man was taken to hospital where he is undergoing surgery for life threatening injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Cunliffe from GMP’s City of Manchester Team said: “We have a team of officers investigating this shooting last night, which has left a man critically ill in hospital."
“This is a fast moving inquiry and we are doing all we can to identify those responsible and will provide updates to the public as our investigation progresses."
“Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact police at Central Park police station on 101, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
