A man remains in custody this morning (Wednesday 6 July) where he continues to be questioned following a disorder in Sparkbrook last night.
The 18-year-old was arrested at a mosque on Henley Street at around 6.45pm after police were called to the location by worshippers who stepped in to detain him.
The disturbance is not related in any way to the mosque or the on-going Eid celebrations; it is believed a group of men ran into the building after trouble flared outside.
One person was treated for minor injuries.
Searches have been carried out on Stratford Road between Henley Street and Stratford Street North and Grafton Road overnight following reports some men involved were carrying weapons.
Local officers are working closely with representatives from the mosque as the investigation continues and anyone who saw what happened is asked to call police on 101.
Alternatively information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
