Nine men suspected of committing murder, rape and drug trafficking offences are among Britain’s most wanted fugitives believed to be hiding in the Netherlands.
The men feature in the latest appeal to be launched under Operation Return - a National Crime Agency and Crimestoppers initiative to track down fugitives who have fled the country.
Amongst those listed is Shazad Ghafoor, aged 29, from Manchester, who allegedly stole a car from a Land Rover dealership in Manchester in August 2013 using a false name, sparking a high speed police chase whilst his wife and children were in the car.
The pursuit ended with him rolling the car in Halifax, before police found up to £100,000 in cash in the vehicle.
He is accused of a string of offences for the chase, and supplying cannabis.
This is the fourth Operation Return appeal to be made since 2010, the previous three have so far resulted in 10 out of 14 fugitives being apprehended.
Lord Ashcroft KCMG PC, the Founder and Chair of Crimestoppers, said: “With the support of the Dutch authorities and the public, we are confident that we can successfully hunt these people down.”
