GMP Appeal After Vulnerable Man Injured In Park

Officers are appealing for information after a man was found injured in a Swinton park.

Shortly before 7pm on Sunday 2nd October 2016 the man, who is in his 40s, went for a walk in Moorside Park.

He entered the park at the corner of Deansway and Browning Road before following the footpath for around 40 yards.

He was later found by a tree with injuries to his face including a possible broken nose.

Officers carried out house-to-house enquiries and have since been studying CCTV.

Detective Constable, Jill Jackson, from GMP’s Salford borough, said: “The victim is a vulnerable person and was understandably extremely distressed when he was found."

A shopping trolley was found in the park which contained items which had been set on fire and were burnt out by the time the victim was discovered. This might have something to do with this incident and the Police are keen to see if this jogs anyone’s memory.

A man was also stood on the corner of Browning Road and Shelley Road smoking when the victim was collected. Detective Constable, Jill Jackson added “I would appeal directly to him to come forward to police as you could have vital information which could also help with the investigation.”
