Detectives investigating an attempted murder in Prestwich have made a fifth arrest.
Police were called at around 8.40pm on 27 November to reports that a man had been shot at a house on Glebelands Road.
Three masked men had forced their way into a 49-year-old’s home, after visiting the address earlier and returning, at which point they attacked him with a shotgun.
The group then fled the house in the direction of Poppythorn Road.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a serious condition.
Four men, aged 20, 22, 24 and 30 have all been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody for questioning.
A 33-year-old man from Whitefield who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released on bail until the end of December.
