Drug importer Ordered to re-pay more than £55,000

A Bradford man sentenced for importing drugs has been ordered to re-pay more than £55,000 by the courts.

Ravinder Narr, 32, of Kensington Street, received a suspended sentence and was ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work after he pleaded guilty at Bradford Crown Court in March this year, to a charge of importing Class C drugs.

Following Narr’s sentencing the Bradford District Proceeds of Crime Team made enquiries into his available assets and yesterday (Thursday) at Bradford Crown Court, His Honour Judge Rose ordered Narr to re-pay a total of £56,397.01.

He was ordered to re-pay this within three months or face 18 months in prison.

Mark Burns-Williamson, West Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner said: “This is fantastic work by West Yorkshire Police and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all their efforts in ensuring crime doesn’t pay. A good amount of this money will now be put into my Safer Communities Fund which provides grants to community projects across West Yorkshire working to keep people safe”
