A controlling husband who told his wife it was "not halal" for her to look after other men as a carer before murdering her has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years.
Manchester Crown Court heard Imran Khan stabbed Nasreen Khan at their home in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport on 18 April while five children were in the house.
The court was told that 38 year old Khan was extremely controlling of his wife, also 38 years old, and the couple frequently split up.
Mrs Khan told a colleague she was going to confront him over aggressive texts in which he told her to give up her job if it meant caring for other men and stand up for herself.
On the night of her death, the court heard Mrs Khan told her husband she wanted him to leave, he then phoned his father and told him "I've got no choice. I'm going to kill her and kill myself." Sentencing him the Judge said he had a medieval attitude and had had no intention of killing himself.
