A man from Ashton-under-Lyne was forced to admit to fly-tipping in Manchester city centre, after a Manchester City Council CCTV camera caught him in the act.
Asam Ghafoor Bibi’s offence was picked up by a mobile camera, which had been installed on Helmet Street to detect fly-tippers.
He was recorded depositing items including a bed base, mattress and electrical goods onto the pavement.
Under interview he said he had dumped the waste because he had been “disturbed” by the noise made by the items moving around in the back of the van while he was driving.
He was ordered at Manchester Magistrates' Court to pay a total of £1,542
