A cab driver has been jailed for 18 months after he drove off with a woman clinging to the passenger window of his taxi, leaving her with life-threatening injuries.
Manchester Crown Court heard that on September 20th last year Karamat Ali refused to take a 22-year-old politics student home after a night out drinking, she then grabbed hold of the lowered front passenger side window, but the 56-year-old Ali put his foot down and sped off. The woman was dragged 57 yards down the road before falling off and suffering a severe head injury which meant a part of her skull has had to be removed and she has lost her sense of smell.
Ali left the scene and made no attempt to report the accident
