The University of Bradford has returned a technology award over what has been described as an “inappropriate” ceremony.
A team from the university was awarded the Most Innovative use of Video or Animation, at the Digital Entrepreneur Awards, for their promotional video "Don't Go To Bradford", released to turn perceptions about Bradford on their head.
The awards show, hosted in Manchester last week, has since been criticised for the inclusion of burlesque dancers wearing corsets and hot pants, as well as a comedian allegedly making sexist jokes.
The university handed back its award, claiming it “didn't sit comfortably” with what the university is trying to promote.
