Police in Bradford are not thought to be treating the death of an 11 year old boy yesterday as suspicious but there have been reports the youngster took his own life after being bullied at school.
Police were called by ambulance staff to an address in Tile Street, Bradford at 4.19pm yesterday after an 11-year-old boy was found in an unresponsive state.
The 11 year old boy named locally as Asad Khan was taken to hospital, but sadly died a short time later.
Local MP for Bradford West Naz Shah who named the little boy as Asad on her Facebook page last night said the child had taken his own life and claimed that bullying had been mentioned when she met with his heartbroken parents.
The MP also met with the parents of the 17 year old who tragically lost his life in a horrific road smash in Bradford earlier this week, she wrote on her Facebook page:
"I felt compelled to share this tonight as my heart bleeds for the families.
I believe we as members of our communities have the solutions to the issues we face within our communities.
Whilst my prayers and thoughts remain with the families, could I ask you all to be kind enough and talk to at least one friend/young person about these tragedies to raise awareness about dangerous driving and bullying."
This morning the young boy's school Beckfoot Upper Heaton School released a statement: "It is with great sadness that we learnt last night of the death of Asad Khan one of the school’s newest students. The school is united in its grief at this sad time. The school community is working together as students, parents and staff come to terms with these events. All our thoughts are with Asad’s family at this terribly difficult time."
