A Bradford man who locked his former wife in a bedroom so that he could “eat his tea in peace” has been jailed.
Kevin Drake, 59-years-old and from the Greengates area, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court to a two-year conditional discharge for false imprisonment.
The court heard how the couple, who were married for 34 years, began arguing over the whereabouts of a cigarette lighter. After the argument Mrs Drake went to her room but then could not get out again.
She called for help from a window and when the police arrived they encountered Mr Drake eating his evening meal.
As part of his sentence, Drake was ordered not to contact Moira Drake for five years except through a solicitor.
