A man has been charged after a woman was shot in Middleton.
Shortly before 1.55am on Saturday 3 September 2016, police were called to Cemetery Street, Middleton, to reports of a shooting.
Officers attended and found that a 33-year-old woman had suffered wounds to the leg and was taken to hospital for treatment. She remains in a stable condition.
A handgun has also been recovered.
Lewis Bishop, of Ullock Walk, Middleton, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Bury Magistrates Court today, Monday 4 September 2016.
Detective Inspector Lee Hopwood, of GMP’s Rochdale borough, said: “I understand that an incident like this will cause concern and I want to reassure the community that we have increased patrols in the area."
“I would like to appeal to anyone with information that can help our investigation to contact the police.”
