Angry Demonstrators Protest

    Local politicians and police officials are appealing to members of the public to remain calm following an incident yesterday evening where over a 100 angry demonstrators blocked busy roads in Bradford.

    A group protesting about the shooting of 28 year old Mohammed Yassar Yaqub, sparked a protest which began on Leeds Road at around 6.30pm yesterday evening but spread down to Shipley Airedale Road.

     

    Traffic was brought to a standstill as police tried to move on the protesters who were allegedly shouting abuse at the officers and waving home-made banners.

    A spokesman for the police said they attended a 'spontaneous incident' at Shipley Airedale Road, Leeds Road, Wakefield Road and surrounding routes. Officers from West Yorkshire Police were deployed to the area to facilitate a peaceful protest and to provide public reassurance.”

    Investigations in to the fatal shooting that took place on Monday 2nd January 2017 in Huddersfield, are on going as three men remain in custody and two men have been bailed pending further enquiries.
