149 people have been arrested for drink and drug driving across Greater Manchester during the first half of December, as part of Greater Manchester Police’s ‘None for the Road’ Christmas crackdown.
The first 16 days of the operation saw officers across the force carry out 463 breath tests, resulting in 149 arrests - almost a third of drivers stopped returned a positive test or refused/failed the test.
17 people tested positive for drink or drugs following a collision while 132 were caught by officers carrying out breath tests at drink and drug drive check sites or while out on patrol.
Launched on 1 December, the month-long campaign will continue to run throughout the festive period to highlight the devastating consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
