Norman Bramble has been receiving well wishes, including from the NSPCC, as he celebrates his 100th birthday.
Norman Bramble, who now lives in Ripley, Derbyshire was a painter and decorator in the Halifax area and since the 1970s until he moved away in the late 1990s would, along with his wife, make hundreds of toys at Christmas for children being supported by the NSPCC in the town.
In 1992, Norman was presented to HRH Princess Margaret when she visited the NSPCC’s Halifax base for his services to the children’s charity.
Local Fundraising Manager for the NSPCC , Elaine Kaye said: “We are delighted to wish Norman a very Happy 100th Birthday and we hope he has a wonderful day with his loved ones. Norman’s dedication to vulnerable children particularly at Christmas when the stark reality of neglect and abuse is often most keenly felt, would have made the world of difference for so many young ones and their families.
She added “I Hope Norman’s example encourages even more people to come forward, to fundraise or support the NSPCC in their efforts to be there for even more children when they need us the most, whether it’s through Childline, our Helpline, in schools or one of our therapeutic service centres across the country.”
