A woman is in a critical condition following an assault in Bolton.
At around 2.00pm on Sunday 3 June 2018, police were called to Deepdale Road to reports of an assault.
Officers attended and established that a woman and her son had been assaulted by a man before he fled the scene.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment before her condition deteriorated. She is now in a critical condition.
Greater Manchester Police said the incident is being treated as a hate crime.
Superintendent Steve Howard, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “I understand that there will be concern from members of the public when they hear about this incident; however I want to assure them that we currently have officers searching for the person responsible.
“Based on the information we have at this stage, we are treating this incident as a hate crime.
“If anybody witnessed what happens or has any information that they believe can assist us then please contact police immediately.”
