A trial date has been set for the Halifax man accused of murdering young mum-of-two Levi Ogden in an altercation in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Lloyd Birkby, of Langdale Street, Halifax, appeared before Judge Jonathan Rose via a video to HMP Leeds for a 20-minute hearing during which a timetable for the progress of his case was agreed with the prosecution and defence counsel.
Birkby was charged with one count of murder and two counts of assault following the altercation during a night out in Silver Street, Halifax, with Ms Ogden later dying in hospital.
The accused was not asked to enter a plea to the murder allegation or two further charges of common assault during the hearing, with Judge Rose explaining he was adjourning his plea and trial preparation hearing until January 6.
Upon the conclusion of the hearing, it was confirmed that the trial would be fixed to start on April 27 next year.
