A convicted drug importer and his associates have been jailed after covert officers exposed Greater Manchester Police’s (GMP) largest ever recovery of heroin.
In August 2017, officers from Operation Cartoon - headed by GMP’s Serious and Organised Crime Group - uncovered 210 kilograms of heroin at an industrial unit in Salford.
Forensic tests proved the heroin was of such high purity that it would yield a street value of around £63 million.
Seven offenders were sentenced on Monday 4 June at Manchester Crown Court and jailed for more than 110 years collectively.
