A Rochdale man has been jailed after grooming and sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Mahmood Ahmed, aged 50, was sentenced to 20 months in prison at Minshull Street Crown Court yesterday, 25 April.
The court heard how Ahmed showered the victim with gifts and over a number of months made sexual advances towards her.
He then took the victim away for the night in London where he sexually assaulted her.
As part of his sentence he was also handed a ten-year sexual harm prevention order.
Detective Constable Christopher Sherbourne, from Rochdale’s Child Sexual Exploitation Team, said: “Ahmed preyed on a vulnerable girl for his own perverse pleasure. The victim has been incredibly courageous throughout this case. I hope the victim now feels safer knowing Ahmed is behind bars.”
