Police appeal for help from the public amidst ongoing investigation into fatal collision

Police investigating a fatal collision in Middleton from November last year are appealing for information the public.

Despite ongoing enquiries, no witnesses have been identified. The collision happened at around 5.30pm on Monday, 4 November, on New Forest Way, when a reversing silver Vauxhall Vivaro van was in collision with a 75-year-old female pedestrian.

The pedestrian, Kathleen Bichard, from Middleton, was taken to hospital but later passed away.

Regarding the ongoing investigation, PC Mark Turner, of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “We appreciate that it has now been some time since this collision but are asking people to cast their minds back and think about whether they may have seen the van or Ms Bichard immediately prior to this collision.

“It is important for those involved in this collision and their families that we do all we can to establish the circumstances of what has taken place.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the police via 101. Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
