A multi-agency operation launched in Huddersfield over the weekend resulted in over 60,000 illicit cigarettes taken off the streets.
West Yorkshire Police teamed up with West Yorkshire Trading Standards, Wagtail UK tobacco detection dogs and other partner agencies including licencing and security staff during the operation on Saturday, 22 July.
The operation targeted a total of six premises in the town centre.
A total of 62,860 illegal cigarettes were seized, along with 26kg of hand rolling tobacco and 219 illegal tobacco products. Nearly £13,000 worth of cash was also seized from the premises searched.
If the cigarettes and hand rolling tobacco was genuine, it would be valued at in excess of £50,000.
