Residents are being encouraged to nominate local volunteers for this year’s Community Volunteer Awards in Blackburn with Darwen.
Nominations have opened for the 2026 Community Volunteer Awards in Blackburn with Darwen.
The awards, organised in partnership between Blackburn with Darwen Council and Community CVS, recognise the hard work, dedication and positive impact of volunteers across the borough.
Now in their tenth year, the awards feature categories covering support for people, tackling poverty, environmental action, community safety and cohesion, improving public spaces, and encouraging participation in sport, arts and culture.
Additional awards include a Lifetime Achievement Award for people who have volunteered for 20 years or more and a Young Person’s Award for volunteers aged 25 and under.
Councillor Phil Riley, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said volunteers play a vital role in communities across the borough and that the awards provide an opportunity to recognise their outstanding contributions.
Residents can nominate individuals or organisations by submitting a short summary explaining why they deserve recognition.
The closing date for nominations is Friday 14 August 2026.
