Cllr Doreen Lee will be formally installed as the new Lord Mayor of Bradford for the civic year 2019 to 2020 at the annual ‘Mayor Making’ ceremony.
The ceremony forms part of the Annual Meeting of Bradford Council today (21 May).
Cllr Lee (Keighley East, Lab) and Cllr Shabir Hussain (Manningham, Lab) have been named as the new Lord Mayor of Bradford and Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford respectively.
Doreen, who has served on the council for 13 years, will take over from the current Lord Mayor Cllr Zafar Ali after being nominated by Labour group colleagues.
She said: "I’m hugely proud and excited to be nominated as Lord Mayor.
“It’s a real honour and I can’t wait to get going, and start promoting good causes and fantastic events across this wonderful district.”
