A man was shot in the stomach outside of a pub in Hattersley.
At around 8:20pm on Saturday 17 November, Greater Manchester Police responded to an incident on Hattersley Road East.
The victim, a 35-year-old man, had already left the scene to seek medical treatment. A short time later, he presented himself at hospital with a gunshot wound to his stomach.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Further enquiries have established that two men had been seen travelling in a Renault Clio and brandished a gun before making threats to people who were stood outside the pub.
No details of arrests have been made but police believe it to be a targeted attack.
Detective Inspector Zoe Stapleton, of GMP’s Tameside Borough, said: “We know incidents such as this will understandably cause concern but I want to reassure the public that we have launched a full investigation into what happened last night.
“We have been following numerous lines of enquiry since it was first reported and we are now in a much stronger position in terms of what we know about the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
“However, we still need the public’s help to gather more information and find those responsible for such a callous incident. There were a number of witnesses to what happened and we are keen to speak to any of these people so that they can help further our investigation.
“At this stage we believe this to have been a targeted attack with no further threat to any members of the public but we have increased patrols in the area to provide local reassurance so residents may notice more of a visible police presence.
“If you have concerns or information regarding what happened last night then I would encourage you to approach one of these officers and speak with them directly.”
