Police are investigating a serious assault in Leeds that has left a man critically ill in hospital.
Officers were called to Foundry Approach, in Harehills, at about 4.45am on Saturday where the 49-year-old victim was found seriously injured.
It appears the man had been visiting the Misha Food & Wine store as a customer when he became involved in an altercation with three men who were in an argument with two other men. The victim was then attacked by the three who punched him to the ground and kicked and stamped on him.
The men then left the shop and got into a 4x4 vehicle which collided with the victim before leaving the scene. A vehicle believed to be the one involved was later found burnt out.
A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.
Enquiries are on-going to trace the other men involved in the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District CID via 101.
