More than 20 children and staff from a Huddersfield school have gone into self-isolation after returning from a skiing trip in northern Italy.
The group - 19 pupils and four members of staff - from Salendine Nook High School Academy returned from their trip via Milan airport on Saturday.
Italy is now the European country worst affected by coronavirus with over 280 reported cases and 11 towns cordoned off.
In a message on the school website principal Darren Christian said: “We have just been given information by Public Health England that all people who have visited or travelled through northern Italy recently, should self-isolate for two weeks from the point of last contact in the area affected.
“Our ski trip returned from northern Italy on Saturday 22 February. This is an area which is affected by the virus.
“As a result of this, we have sent home 19 children and 4 staff, as a precautionary measure in line with Public Health England’s advice.
“These children and staff will be returning to school on Monday 9th March 2020.”
