Gladys Rhodes White OBE will be taking on the role of Interim Strategic Director of Children’s Services in Bradford.
Gladys will start in the role from Monday 19 November on an interim basis until May next year.
The appointment comes following the resignation of Michael Jameson, who departed just weeks after the Children's Services department was judged "inadequate" by Ofsted.
Gladys started her career as a nursery nurse before training as a children’s social worker. She has worked in all aspects of children’s services both as a front line practitioner and as a chief officer in a number of local authorities. She has been a statutory Director of Children’s Services (DCS) specializing in recent years in leading and transforming services.
She has earned national and international accolades for her work on Child Sexual Exploitation and Early Years, receiving an OBE in 2012 for her services to children.
Gladys Rhodes White OBE, Interim Strategic Director of Children’s Services, said:
''I am delighted to be joining Bradford Council’s Children’s Services. This is an exciting time for the district as it embarks on a rapid improvement journey to make sure that services for children and families meet the high standards that the Council and its partners expect and aspire to.
“I hope that my experience, commitment and passion for helping children to achieve the very best outcomes can add value to the work already underway across Bradford. I look forward to meeting and working with the excellent people I know are already in place in the district.''
