A Makarov self-loading pistol has been taken off the streets and four men have been sentenced to 30 years at Leeds Crown Court.
On the 10th of May 2016 a VW Passat was searched by officers on New Hey Road, Huddersfield and it was during this search that the weapon was found along with 16 rounds of ammunition and cannabis.
After that initial search investigations arrested and charged four men:
Jamie Simpson, 29, of Walton Croft, Huddersfield, was sentenced to a total of eight years. He pleaded guilty to the sale of a firearm, sale of ammunition and possession with intent to supply a class B drug.
Joshua Heathcote, 21, of Turnsteads Drive, Cleckheaton was sentenced to a total of five and a half years after admitting possession of a firearm.
George Sweeney, 33, admitted possession with intent to supply a class B drug and was found guilty of purchasing a firearm and section 1 ammunition. He was sentenced to nine years.
Lewis Tynan, 24, of Bower Road, Huyton, was sentenced to a total of eight years after admitting purchasing a firearm and section 1 ammunition and possession with intent to supply a class B drug.
