A former mental health nurse has admitted to charges relating to fraud and burglary with intent to steal after being found wandering hospital wards.
Sally Davies, 43, of Old Manse Croft, Oxenhope, Keighley, impersonated a pharmacy technician in a bid to steal from hospital wards on four separate instances at wards at Bradford Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital, Halifax, between August 2017 and September 2018.
Davies was due to be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on Tuesday after admitting to the charges of burglary with intent to steal and fraud, although the case had to be adjourned as she had no legal representation.
She also admitted two further offences of fraud, between 10 August and 22 October 2018, after assuming the identity of two friends in order to obtain Dihydrocodeine – an opioid prescribed to treat severe pain.
Judge Colin Burn adjourned the case until October 29, extending Davies’ bail until that hearing, due to her having not acquired legal aid.
The court heard that she had been to see a solicitor but an upfront payment of £16,000 was required as she was above the threshold for legal aid.
Speaking on the case, Judge Burn said the charges Davies faced were serious and she must seek legal representation.
