Greater Manchester Police have launched an appeal after a child was left with a broken back following a collision in Blackley.
On Tuesday 29 May, a Fiat Punto collided with a cyclist on Cecil Road.
The driver failed to stop at the scene and left in the direction of Hill Lane.
The cyclist, an 11-year-old boy, was taken to hospital where he was treated for fractures to his back. He is now recovering at home.
Police are working to trace the car and the driver and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
Police Constable Simon Folwell, of GMP’s Specialist Operations, said: “We are currently following several lines of enquiry as part of our investigation to trace both the car and the driver.
“This is an awful incident which has left a young boy with serious injuries.
“My thoughts and the thoughts of my colleagues are very much with the young boy and his family as he recovers from this ordeal.”
