Police are hunting the attacker who entered the offices of Ace Budget Cars on Thornton Road shortly before midnight on Sunday night, 6 August.
The hooded suspect initially posed as a customer before attacking two staff members with an iron bar.
He hit a driver first, identified as Waqaas Mohammad, 30, who was waiting in the office. Abbas Yasin, a son-in-law of the owner of the business and working on the switchboard at the time, tried to defend Mohammad but was subsequently hit on the head.
Yasin has suffered a cracked skull and possible brain injury. He has since undergone an eight-hour operation to remove fragments of bone from his brain. It is still unclear whether he will be left with long-term damage.
An investigation to find the culprit is ongoing.
