The Bradford-based housing association has received accreditation recognising its work to ensure LGBTQ+ residents feel heard, respected and supported in their homes and communities.
Manningham Housing Association has been awarded LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge Pioneer status in recognition of its work to support LGBTQ+ residents.
The accreditation, which is valid until 2028, follows an assessment of how the association is putting its commitments to equality, diversity and inclusion into practice.
MHA manages more than 1,400 homes for over 6,000 residents across Bradford and Keighley.
The LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge is delivered by Stonewall Housing in partnership with HouseProud and is designed to help social housing providers improve the experiences of LGBTQ+ residents.
To achieve Pioneer status, providers must demonstrate progress in three areas: involving LGBTQ+ residents in decision-making, increasing LGBTQ+ visibility and providing relevant training for staff.
Assessors described MHA's submission as "rounded, thoughtfully considered and strong across several areas" and highlighted its consideration of how different experiences of inequality can overlap.
The panel also encouraged MHA to continue developing opportunities for LGBTQ+ residents from minority communities to have their voices heard.
MHA's work has included specialised LGBTQ+ training for staff, engagement with HouseProud North and support for LGBTQ+ charities and wider regional equality, diversity and inclusion activity.
Chief Executive Lee Bloomfield said the accreditation was about more than achieving a formal status.
He said: “It is about assuring our LGBTQ+ residents that they should feel safe, secure and supported as part of the MHA family.”
Mr Bloomfield added that the accreditation demonstrated the association was taking practical action, listening to residents and working to provide high-quality services in communities where everyone can be themselves.
