Bradford Council is urging residents to make sure they are registered to vote in the upcoming local elections on Thursday 3 May.
People must be registered by Tuesday 17 April or it will be too late to participate in this year's local elections.
Kersten England, Bradford Council's Chief Executive and Returning Officer, said: "This year marks the centenary of women's suffrage, when some women first gained the right to vote. And not until 1969 did men and women have the right to vote at 18. Many people fought for the right for everyone to have a say in how they are governed.
“Local government decisions have a significant impact on many aspects of people's lives. So please use your right to vote!
“Registration is easy and Bradford Council is backing the Electoral Commission's Got 5? campaign, highlighting you can register in just five minutes. If you haven't yet registered, please go online or telephone the number above.”
On Thursday, 3 May this year, voters in Bradford district go to the polls to elect local government councillors in all of the district’s 30 wards.
